UGRA Proposes 6.34%Tax Cut

Kerrville, TX, September 8, 2004 -- The Board of Directors of the Upper Guadalupe River Authority (UGRA) today proposed substantially cutting UGRA’s tax rate for the second consecutive year.  Janet Robinson, UGRA President, said, “The proposed tax cut reflects efficiencies that we have realized.  We are doing more with less.”

The proposed tax cut would reduce the tax rate to $0.0295 from $0.0315 per $100.00 of value.  This is a decrease of 6.34 percent.  Last year, UGRA reduced the tax rate by over five and one-half percent.  According to Greg Etter, UGRA General Manager, “We are making progress and remain committed to cutting costs and improving efficiency.  I’m very pleased with this proposal to cut the tax rate again.”

A Public Hearing on the proposed reduction will be held on September 22nd at 3:30 p.m. at the Guadalupe Basin Natural Resources Center, 125 Lehmann Drive, Suite 100, Kerrville, Texas.  It is anticipated that the UGRA Board will vote on adopting the proposed reduction at their Regular Board Meeting later that same day.
